Homemade V8 Juice Recipe.
I got a confession to make…I love the taste of V8 juice. I know, I know…fresh juice is always the best. It is true, you can’t beat fresh juice. But I like the taste…and when the craving is there, I won’t think twice about buying a bottle. Life is too short to feel guilty, especially when you only indulge once in a long while. It’s ok to have some fun.

With that said, there are people who are strict about what they put into their bodies, and I thought I’d help them out with this homemade V8 juice recipe.
Obviously Campbell Soup (which owns V8) isn’t just going to spill the beans on the highly guarded recipe, so this is just an educated guess. But unlike baking, which requires exact measurements, juicing is a bit more flexible, and that gives you a chance to experiment and have some fun with the recipe.
For the raw, homemade V8 juice, you will need the following:
- 3 tomatoes
- 6 carrots (not baby carrots)
- 3 stalks of celery
- handful of spinach
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 small beet
- 1/4 head of cabbage
- 1/4 onion (optional if you are sensitive to it)
- 1 jalapeno or habanero (optional if you can’t handle the heat. :p Or use Tabasco instead)
- 1/2 garlic (optional…this stuff is strong! You’ve been warned)
- salt to taste (optional)
Don’t be surprised if the juice doesn’t taste like bottled V8. It’s because they are pasteurized (cooked). Also, they add a large amount of salt to their juice. And it’s okay if you don’t have all the ingredients, go ahead and use what you’ve got.
If you want a more V8-y (did i just use the “word” V8-y?) taste, one trick is to replace the fresh tomatoes with canned tomato sauce, or canned stewed tomatoes. It won’t be completely raw like the recipe, but still pretty darn close.
Now if you want something as close to the V8 recipe as possible, go ahead and boil everything gently, blend it all up with a bit of water and strain it. It’s not even juicing, but you know what, all gloves are off today! There is a reason people call me “James Bond” of juicing, haha, just kidding, guys.
Do you have your own version of the recipe? Did you come with with something that tastes more like V8? Go ahead and share your recipe in the comments section.
